This key note will challenge the industry to accept that all sustainable designs must start from a position of human factor design following three simple rules; design for the body not the building, design for simplicity, and design for familiarity. Participants will learn these three design rules are intimately related to the three common denominators for the least sustainable countries in the world; combustion to maintain comfort, complexity in products and customization in systems. All can be better managed by understanding human physiology and the relationship between energy, indoor environmental ergonomics and industrial design.
