Mr. Shannon Kraus

Shannon Kraus, AIA, ACHA is a senior designer and planner in the Dallas office of HKS. With a background and education in both architecture and business, he enjoys teaming with clients and users to identify and synthesize operational, technological, and strategic market variables into integrated and implementable design solutions.

Professionally, he has worked with several of the top health systems in the U.S. and abroad on complex facilities ranging from freestanding heart hospitals to criminal justice facilities, multi-family housing, and retail. As a healthcare architect his work has included replacement hospitals, short stay hospitals, and ambulatory care facilities. In addition to his project experience, Shannon has also participated with both the Center for Healthcare Design, the Academy of Neuroscience for Architecture, and the AIA with various research and design initiatives related to healing environments within healthcare facility design and planning.

Additionally, Shannon has served as Vice President on the American Institute of Architects Board of Directors and has earned honors from AIA National, the Texas Society of Architects and AIA Dallas for his service to the profession, as well as other groups for several of his projects in design.

Among his accomplishments, he co-authored the 2003 internship and career survey, serves on NAAB accredidation teams, and is actively involved in developing strategic plans at all levels of the AIA.
